Shipments booked under Deutsche Afrika-Linien were not updated by Hapag-Lloyd

Status: Fixed since October 2026

How to recognise it
A shipment with Deutsche Afrika-Linien (DAL) as carrier showed no updates, although Hapag-Lloyd tracked the same containers.

Which shipments this affects
Shipments whose first-leg carrier was the Deutsche Afrika-Linien company, with the code DAYU. Shipments filed under Hapag-Lloyd’s own code were not affected, even for the same containers.

Cause
Hapag-Lloyd took over DAL’s container business, but shipments booked under DAL still carry DAL’s own carrier code, DAYU, instead of Hapag-Lloyd’s HLCU.

What changed
The Hapag-Lloyd connections now accept shipments filed under DAYU as well as HLCU, so DAL shipments are tracked through Hapag-Lloyd.

Is past data corrected?
No. The fix applies to new events; earlier events keep their original wording.

How to check your shipment
Open the shipment and look at the carrier. If it shows Deutsche Afrika-Linien, Hapag-Lloyd’s events should now appear while the shipment is active. You can compare them with Hapag-Lloyd’s own tracking page. If Hapag-Lloyd shows the container and Dockflow stays empty, send support the shipment reference.

Do you need to do anything?
Nothing.
